In 2012, the textile industry, especially large-sized cotton textile enterprises in Hebei Province encountered many negative factors, but the industry maintained steady growth thanks to the good performance of garment, leather as well as foot & head gear sectors.

In 2012, the local textile industry earned a profit of CNY 21.02 billion, up 23.1% year-on-year, 17.8 percentage points higher than the average of all industries; the profit rate of prime business stood at 7.4%, ranking the first among 7 major industries and 2.1 percentage points higher than the average of all industries. The production of yarn stood at 1.888 million tons, up 24.5% year-on-year, fabric 6.57 billion meters, up 13.5%; garment 700 million pieces, up 76.9%.
