Cangnan Become National Pilot Base for Comprehensive Use of Waste Textiles (05/15/2012)

On April 22, the National Conference on Comprehensive Use of Resources was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Cangzhan County in Zhejiang Province was selected as the pilot base for comprehensive use of waste textiles.

It is reported that in the past five years, the textile industry in Cangnan County has been developing rapidly and it has established a textile economy focusing on regenerated fiber spinning, downstream processing of rotor-spun yarn and knitted garment. At present, the local textile industry has nearly 20,000 sets of various machines, about 4,000 enterprises involving in the regenerated fiber processing chain and offers more than 200,000 jobs. According to statistics, in 2011, the industry´s the industrial output of valued at CNY 18 billion, covering 24.46% of the county´s gross industrial output value and the consumption of fabric scraps reached more than 3 million tons, accounting for more than 80% of the China´s total.
