The General Administration of the Customs recently has revised the "Table of Categorization of Imported Articles of the People´s Republic of China" and the "Table of Customs Value of Imported Articles of the People´s Republic of China". The revised version will become effective on April 15, 2012.

According to the new version of the tables, the import tariff rate of articles under tariff number 04000000, including clothing items (outerwear, trousers, underwear, shirt/T-shirt, etc.), accessories (hat, silk scarf, headscarf, neckerchief, tie, waistband, gloves, stocking, handkerchief, etc.), home-textiles (blanket, quilt, pillow, bedcover, sleeping bag, bed curtain, etc.) and others (towel, bath towel, tablecloth, curtain, carpet, etc.) will remain 20%, while that for articles under tariff number 05000000, including leather garment and accessories, will be reduced from 20% to 10%.
