China Home Textiles Industry to Stride at 8% of Annual Increase During the 12th FYP (04/26/2011)

In a recent meeting held by China Home Textiles Association(CHTA), Mr. Yang Zhaohua, president of CHTA, prompted that annual industrial output growth of the industry shall strive to reach eight percent and export shall set the target at 7.5 percent of increase per annum during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Fiber consumption of China´s home textiles industry would be reach million tons by the yearend of 2015.China home textiles industry has undergone and withstood multiple pressures from all sides in the year 2011. The overall operation performance of the industry, however, has maintained a growing momentum against these adversities. According to the statistics released by the Statistics Center of China National Textile and Apparel Council, China home textiles industry has realized a double-digit annual growth during the 11th Five-Year Plan period(2006 ~ 2010). From 2005 to 2009, annual growth of the industry was 15.74 percent. Average profit margin of the industry and the industrial cluster all surpassed the average level of the whole textile industry. Competitive edge of China home textiles industry stands obvious.

Over the first eleven months of 2010, 2,587 above-scale home textiles companies realized an aggregated industrial output of 191.7 billion CNY, rising by 25.1 percent year-on-year. Export turnover reached at 49.545 billion CNY, rising by 15.73 percent year-on-year during the same period.

Proportionally, home textiles are claiming for growing fiber consumption shares of the whole industry. Major home textile companies are undergoing a transforming period turning from OEM to ODM and OBM, which is a good sign for China´s indigenous brand construction.
