On February 27, China National Textile and Apparel Council held a meeting on summing up the operation of textile industry in 2011 and forecasting the situation in 2012.

Figures show that the Chinese textile industry operated steadily in 2011 but with a slowdown pace. It presented the following features: the industry operated steadily in general but both production and sales grew at decelerated pace; regional structure of investment further readjusted, but the number of newly-launched projects grew slowly; export of textiles and garment rose fast in export price but registered near “zero” growth in export quantity; the profit earning dropped month by month. In the first half of 2012, the textile industry will continue to face external risks, so further improving risk management and risk response ability remains the prime task of the industry.
