The Sichuan Bureau of Statistics has released its official estimate of 2007 cotton production. Total cotton produced reached 17,000 tons, a 6.4 percent year-on-year expansion. Cotton is a very small crop in Sichuan Province. Grain production in the province increased 6.1 percent to 34.484 million tons, while oilseed production was up 5.2 percent to 2.285 million tons.
